Gwendolyn Brooks’ poem "We Real Cool" using a juxtaposition.. At first, the author tries to convey to us that hanging around pool halls and drinking alcohol is acceptable. Then, in the last line of the poem, she tells us that people who live that lifestyle won’t live very long. Talk about a time when you, or someone you knew did something wrong, or incorrect even when you knew there would be severe consequences for doing it. What were the circumstances that brought you to them? If you could do them over, would you still do it the same way? Was peer pressure a part of your decision? Why do we do things that we know are not right? What would happen if we did the right thing? What can we do that will help us to make correct choices as opposed to ones that we know are incorrect?
