Steven King has made a successful living writing horror stories.  Yet, much has been said about the effects that horror stories have on society, especially on children within our society.  What should children be allowed to see on television, or read about in books or newspapers?  What should they not be allowed to see?

Sociologists, through scientific studies have concluded that as violence on television goes up, violence within our society goes up.  Do you agree? (state your reasoning for agreeing or disagreeing).  What kinds of things should be shown on television?  What kinds of things should never be shown on television?  Should television shows have more or less violence (or the same amount of violence) if the show is created for a young audience?  If you were in charge of a television station, what kinds of rules would you have about what kinds of programs would be on your station?
